Our mission is to educate and empower designers to conceptualize, prototype, and realize environments that engage audiences and shape meaningful experiences. Through a curriculum that integrates storytelling, spatial design, fabrication, and technology, we prepare graduates to lead across sectors including retail innovation, experiential marketing, visual merchandising, set design, exhibition design and environmental branding.

 

 

PRODUCT PRESENTATION - SMALL SCALE WINDOWS

This course is an introduction to the process of developing design concepts for products and brands in visual merchandising. Students explore techniques through a series of projects that visually motivate consumers. They assemble design combinations and learn to construct effective merchandise presentations for the consumer and marketplace.

BRAND ACTIVATIONS/EXPERIENCE DESIGN

Brand activations and experiential design are part of a very fast growing industry for the promotion and visibility of brands. Presentation and interaction of a product or brand with the consumer is crucial. Students will explore and create meaningful and inspiring translations of brand campaigns and new products through interactive spaces, installations and experiences with the goal of educating, inspiring and gaining brand loyalty of consumers.

CAPSTONE

This course represents the culmination of students studies in spatial experience design. This final project is a concept chosen by the student to represent who they are as a designer and the skills they learned in our program. Generally, the projects focus on experiential design, brand activations, museum exhibitions, retail design, trade shows and showrooms. Stundent engage indus- try mentors, develop presentation decks, render full concepts and actualize their designs in a final build representing their concept that is displayed at FIT for the graduating student exhibition.

PORTFOLIO AND CAREERS IN SED

Students prepare a portfolio for their upcoming internship applications and explore methods for making contacts through professional industry communities. Ultimately, students produce a signature identity, digital portfolio, website, resume, and self-promotional marketing materials to target the experience design industry.
