ART SCHOOL APPLICATION REVIEW
High school students & transfer students applying to BFA/MFA programs
Your portfolio should show more than what you can make. It should show how you think, what makes you different, and where you’re headed creatively.
I’ll bring an experienced designer, educator, and creative-industry perspective to your application—helping you edit, refine, and present your work with confidence.
THE PROCESS
01. SHOW ME YOUR WORK
Send your current portfolio, works in progress, application requirements, artist statement, and any essays you’re working on. It doesn’t have to be perfect—that’s why we’re here.
02. CURATE YOUR PORTFOLIO
Together, we’ll identify 12–20 of your strongest pieces and look at what your portfolio communicates as a whole—not simply which individual pieces are “best.”
We’ll consider:
Strength of concept + execution
Variety of skills and mediums
Creative thinking and experimentation
Personal point of view
Portfolio flow and sequencing
What might be missing
03. FIND YOUR STORY
A strong application connects the dots between your work and who you are as a creative. I’ll provide feedback on your artist statement, essays, project descriptions, and overall narrative so your written materials actually sound like you.
04. 1-ON-1 PORTFOLIO REVIEW
We’ll meet for a 60-minute live review to talk through your work, your application, and the areas that could be stronger.
This is a conversation—not a critique panel.
Ask questions. Show unfinished work. Talk through ideas. Get another perspective.
05. YOUR REVIEW DECK
After our review, you’ll have a clear visual roadmap outlining recommendations, edits, portfolio priorities, and next steps.
YOU’LL WALK AWAY WITH
A more focused portfolio.
A clearer creative story.
Stronger written materials.
Specific next steps.
And a better understanding of how to present yourself as the creative you’re becoming.
You make the work. I’ll help you figure out how to tell its story.
